Steven C. Toups

Steven Toups was born in Beaumont, Texas. He attended Beaumont public schools and graduated from West Brook High School in Beaumont, Texas in 1983. Steven went on to attend Lamar University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude (with high honors) receiving a BA in Accounting. Steven received a Certificate of Recognition for Distinguished Achievement from Lamar University recognizing him as one of the outstanding members of the graduating class of 1987.

Steven went on to receive his Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston in 1990. Steven began his legal career with the Houston, Texas law firm of Giessel, Stone, Barker and Lyman. While working for Giessel, Stone, Barker and Lyman, Steven had the opportunity to work with outstanding lawyers on a variety of cases including toxic tort, premises liability, professional liability, automobile, wrongful death, and other general civil cases.

In 1994, Steven returned to Beaumont, Texas taking a position with the law firm of Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell. With Weller, Green, Toups and Terrell, Steven began his career specializing in the prosecution of serious injury cases including automobile, premises liability, product liability, drug cases, wrongful death cases, insurance cases, burn cases, eighteen wheeler truck accident cases, class actions and whistle blower/Qui Tam cases.

Steven has been selected by Texas Monthly Magazine as a Texas Rising Star in the Texas legal profession. This honor placed Steven in the top 2.5% of the up and coming lawyers who were 40 years or younger, or who had been practicing law 10 years or less in the State of Texas. As a Texas Rising Star, Steven was selected from the results of an extensive nomination and polling process conducted by Law and Politics Magazine and published in Texas Monthly Magazine.
